Reasons to
Choose Texas

  • Superior Business Climate

Texas offers the best business climate in the U.S. with a fair, transparent tax and regulatory structure designed for businesses to succeed. Texas is committed to upholding our position as the Best State for Business in the nation, a title held for 22 years in a row. With no corporate or personal income tax, companies doing business in Texas enjoy one of the lowest overall tax burdens in the country and lower business operating cost when compared to other states.

  • The Best Workforce in America

Texas has the perfect combination of highly skilled, diverse talent and world-class schools and higher education that continue to meet the needs of businesses across all industries. Texas is home to more than 15.9 million industrious Texans, which are among the youngest in the nation. Texas has dominated the U.S. for population growth over the last two decades, attracting the best and brightest talent.

  • Gateway to Global Trade & Robust Infrastructure

Texas is the gateway to global trade for the nation. Texas’ central location and state-of-the-art transportation networks provide timely access to domestic and global markets via air, land, and sea. With more miles of public roadways, state highways, freight railways, airports, and Foreign Trade Zones than any other state, it’s no surprise that Texas has led the nation in exports for the last two decades. Texas offers international companies approximately 32 ports of entry and 35 Foreign Trade Zones. And the state’s transportation network continues to get stronger as we invest in our infrastructure with a $148 billion commitment to new state transportation projects.

  • Exceptional Quality of Life

A key advantage that attracts both companies and people to the Lone Star State is our exceptional quality of life, coupled with our comparatively lower cost of living. Across this vast state, residents can find dynamic cultural and recreational opportunities scattered among breathtaking natural landscapes. Texas is still the best state to work, live, travel, and raise a family.

Texas
Industries

The Texas economy is more diverse today than ever before. With strengths across a wide variety of industries, including advanced manufacturing, energy, food production, tourism and culture, information technology and AI, biotech and life sciences, petroleum refining and chemicals, corporate operations, rare earth and mineral mining, transportation and logistics, and more—Texas is where companies of all kinds can thrive.

Texas
Regions

Opportunity abounds in Texas. Global companies recognize that Texas offers the foundation to succeed across each of our state’s diverse regions. The “Bigger. Better. Texas.” Statewide Economic Development Strategic Plan identifies ten regions across Texas that are driving strategic economic growth and job creation.

Texas-Made Incentives
for World-Class Investments

At the state level, Texas offers a robust portfolio of incentive programs including various grants, tax incentives and financing. There is also opportunity to participate in a statewide site search process that connects projects to communities across the state.

At the local level, customized offerings build on this foundation—ranging from grants and tax abatements to workforce training programs, infrastructure support, and site-readiness solutions—creating an adaptable mix of state and local tools.

How Our Partnership Works for You

Behind the economic success story of Texas is a coordinated, statewide team working on your behalf. We also work closely with the local and regional economic development organizations across the state to ensure Texas stays the best state for business in the country.

Team Texas, the marketing initiative of the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC)—the statewide professional association dedicated to advancing economic development across Texas—mobilizes communities, regional partners, and utilities to showcase sites, workforce assets, and local incentive opportunities through national trade shows, targeted business prospect meetings, and high-end receptions with C-suite executives, decision makers, and site selection consultants. The Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office (EDT), within the Office of the Governor, is tasked with marketing and promoting the state of Texas as a premier business location and travel destination. EDT works side-by-side with the Texas Economic Development Corporation (TxEDC), a public-private partnership and independently funded and operated 501(c)(3) that promotes Texas through a robust program of activities to highlight Texas’ superior business advantages to corporate decision-makers and site selection consultants.

At SelectUSA, all three come together to give companies a single, coordinated entry point — from first conversation to final decision.
